Hallelujah! Flooring is finally here...

After waiting almost a month for my flooring to arrive, it's finally here! They are going to deliver it Saturday night and install it on Wednesday. I can't wait!

Of course, that means I've got a lot to do over the holiday... put felt on the bottoms of all my furniture legs; take everything out of the living room, kitchen pantry, and water heater closet; and buy an area rug for my living room.

Also, I'm having a lawn service trim my trees and bushes sometime in the next week. They have really grown unwieldy!

All this home improvement has got me thinking about what to do next. Hmmm... perhaps I'll paint the walls? or replace the kitchen counter? or replace the white fridge so that it matches my black stove and dishwasher? or put a double vanity in the master bathroom? I'm trying to think of things that will make my house more attractive to potential buyers... not that I'm planning on selling any time soon, but I doubt I'll live there all my life.

Surgery is scheduled

I've tentatively scheduled surgery for Friday, October 6. I have a pre-surgery appointment at the end of September to discuss the surgery. I'm anxious to find out what all it will involve! Fortunately, Bob and a couple of other people I know have had their gall bladder removed and have assured me it is a very easy procedure and the recovery is not difficult at all.

Gall bladder: the latest

Tuesday I saw Dr. Walton. At first he started talking about gall bladder cancer, which got me scared, but at the end of that topic, he said 'but I don't think there's any correlation.' Ummm, thanks for getting me all worried!

So anyway, after asking me more about my symptoms, he let me know that my HIDA-scan revealed that my gall bladder only emptied 18% of what it should have. He scheduled me for another ultrasound, which I did right after my appointment with him. The ultrasound revealed at least one gall stone.

I haven't talked to him after my ultrasound, but during my initial appointment he said that if I have gall stones, the only options are to live with it or to take it out. Basically, it's up to me to decide what I want to do. I'm leaning toward having it removed so I don't have to deal with the occasional pain and heartburn and so that the stones don't get bigger or multiply. That would cause my gall bladder to empty even slower than it already does.

If I have the surgery, I'm going to try to schedule it for the week of October 7, which is when my mom is off for fall break. I think I can hold out until then. :-)

Plans for the weekend

It's gonna be another busy one!

Thursday - drive to my parents' in west Tennessee
Friday - drive to southern Illinois for a family reunion on my father's side
Saturday - drive to Bob's parents' in middle Tennessee for his dad's 71st birthday
Sunday - drive back to Kentucky

I'm so excited because I'm going to get to see my sister and nephew for the first time since January. He was only 6 days old the last time I saw him!

Feverish

Well, the past few days haven't been much fun. I left work early Friday afternoon with a fever. It got as high as 101. I still don't know what set it off, but I am still weak and today my temp is about a degree high.

When I first started feeling bad, I thought I was in for another week-long illness like I had last May. I was so upset about that I called Bob crying about it. :( Fortunately, this one doesn't seem to be lasting as long.

I didn't do anything the entire weekend. In fact, I slept on my couch both Friday and Saturday night because I was too tired and weak to go up and down the stairs.

Bob came over this afternoon and spent several hours with me. He brought over lunch and helped me out with a couple of things around the house. For dinner we went to Bob Evans. It was the first time I had been out of the house since Friday afternoon. It was indeed good to see a friendly, familiar, patient face. :)
